The 2019 Junior Hardcourt Championship at CIYMS was kindly sponsored by Belfast City Council in association with William Wilson Chartered Accountants.

We had 113 players including 7 Visually Impaired (VI) junior players competing in 22 events as well as an Under 18 and Under 10 VI competition which was a first in Ireland and created a huge amount of interest worldwide!

We are delighted that the tournament ran smoothly and we were not disrupted by too many rain delays!

Finals day on Saturday 20th July produced some quite fantastic tennis matches and the players should be congratulated on their conduct during the week which was exemplary.

We would like to thank all the members of CIYMS Tennis Club who gave up the courts for the whole week—this was a great opportunity to showcase our Club, our brilliant Coaching Team and for the first time our inspiring VI tennis programme. Thank you also to our wonderful volunteers who organised and ran the tuck shop for the week—this could not happened without you and the Tournament Committee are indebted to you for all your help.

It was very encouraging to see quite a good number of our own Junior members competing (some for the first time) and we hope this will be a springboard for them to continue to compete in the rest of the summer tournaments. Congratulations to all those who took part in the event, to the winners, to the runners-up and finally to our Coaching Team—Stephen Watters, David Taggart, Neil Stewart and Gary Dunne. We look forward to seeing you all again next year!
